Recreational Offerings from The Outfitter

Summer 2014

This Summer is here with plenty of activities offered by The Outfitter, Harbor Springs.

Running Injury Clinic will be hosted by The Outfitter of Harbor Springs and conducted by medical professionals from Harborside Spine and Sports Center and Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center on June 24, July 15 and August 12.. Schedule your free, 1-on-1 assessment including medical/musculoskeletal and functional strength/flexibility screenings and video gait analysis. If needed, an on-site diagnostic ultrasound will be conducted. For runners of all ages and abilities with nagging injuries or who want to run more efficiently. Registration for this free clinic is required; participants will be scheduled every 10 minutes from 6:30-8:30pm.

Full Moon Paddle July 12 and August 10 for kayakers of all ages and abilities. Explore the harbor and experience the full moon rising over Petoskey State Park. Leaving from Jo Ford Park Boat Launch on Bay Street in Harbor Springs at 9:00pm. Lifejackets mandatory and kayaks only, please. Equipment rental available. The event is free.

Trail Run Series is hosted every Wednesday night starting June 18-August 20, 6pm. For runners of all ages and abilities, this 9-run series is a great chance to explore local trails, meet other runners, and run a 3-5 mile marked route at your own pace. Register for all 9 and get a free tech-t or drop-in for any run/s that fit your schedule. Pre-registration requested.

Kids' Paddle Camp is offered by The Outfitter of Harbor Springs every week this summer! Big fun and paddling skills in a positive learning environment for 9-12 year olds. 4-day sessions (Monday-Thursday) run weekly starting June 23 through August 14 from 9:30am-Noon. Register for 1 or more sessions. Fee includes instruction and all paddling equipment. Reduced rate for Harbor Springs students available Sessions 1 and 7.
Paddleboard and Kayak Demo Day takes plan Saturday, June 28. A great chance to try before you buy: test-paddle top brands on the water with Outfitter staff and company reps on-site to help you find the right fit. Free of charge. Drop in anytime from 10am-4pm at Josephine Ford Park boat launch on Bay Street in Harbor Springs.

Little Traverse Half Marathon and 10K Run/Walk is scheduled, Saturday, September 27, 2014. This point- to-point course along the woods and shoreline of Little Traverse Bay is flat and fast offering a diverse route with incredible views of Lake Michigan. The half marathon starts in the Village of Bay Harbor and the 10k starts in Petoskey State Park with both races finishing at the waterfront in Harbor Springs. Post race food and festivities done in small-town style and a free Kids Run to follow. Calling all energetic volunteers! We need your help at the start line, on the course and at the finish line!
